Dust Mites–Are They killing Your Health

These microscopic creatures are far too small to be seen with the naked eye. A home can look perfectly clean and still have dust mites. There are a few ways to remove them and keep them at bay. Certainly cleanliness around the home and regular laundering of bedding helps greatly. Dust mites feed on the dead skin cells and particles from our bodies and our pets.

These rate second to pollen on the scale of causing allergic reactions and triggering asthma, and asthma-like symptoms. They build up in areas like pillows, mattresses, lounge room furniture, cushions and anywhere else you of your family frequent for periods of time. They are not parasitic and so do not live on your body; they eat the dead cells and tissue. Humans become allergic to the waste droppings and the sheddings of dust mites.

They are found in all parts of the world. Dust Mites cause anything from itching eyes to full on asthma attacks. It depends on the individual and many people may be affected without even realizing. House dust is made up of many different particles. Ash from cigarettes, fireplaces, fibers from textiles, paper, food, plants, fungi, wood and many other tiny particles get airborne and settle on surfaces, in our living areas, and in our lungs.

Having a dust-free house is a very important factor in natural healthy living, and knowing those tiny creatures are about is an even better reason.
