Treat Athlete’s Foot with Aromatherapy

Athlete’s foot can cause pain and itching. It may be picked up by not wearing flip-flops or foot coverings in public showers or public pools. This is why it is necessary to always wear shoes and avoid going in public places barefoot. Athlete’s foot is caused by a fungal infection and may become very uncomfortable. It is important to always wear shoes or flip flops when in these environments to prevent catching the infection. Athlete’s foot likes to breed in moist places, so it is also a good idea to always dry your feet thoroughly after showering or bathing. Along with drying your feet, practicing good hygiene can also help prevent Athlete’s foot. Always wear clean socks to prevent getting an infection and make sure that your shoes fit comfortably and that they are not too tight.

Some of the symptoms of Athlete’s foot include burning, itching, inflammation, and cracked skin. The fungus breeds between the toes, multiplying in warm dark places. Soaking your feet in an aromatic footbath that fights Athlete’s foot can provide immediate relief and healing.

One of the most effective herbs available for treating Athlete’s foot includes Tea Tree oil. Tea Tree oil has natural antiseptic properties and qualities. It kills funguses, viruses, and bacteria and is one of the few essential oils that may be used in undiluted form.

If you are suffering from Athlete’s foot, you can apply Tea Tree straight to the affected areas for immediate relief. Lavender is another oil that is beneficial in the treatment of Athlete’s foot. Like Tea Tree, Lavender may be applied directly to the skin as well.

You can make a wonderful Lavender and Tea Tree foot soak that will help fight and heal Athlete’s foot by adding three drops of Lavender and two drops of Tea Tree oil to a bowl of hot water. Soak your feet in the solution for at least twenty minutes to achieve maximum benefits. It is also a good idea to add some Immune boosting herbs to the diet as well. This may be in the form of an infusion or tea. A great drink that you may try is Echinacea. Echinacea is known for its germ fighting ability and is a great way to boost the Immune System.

Stress can suppress the Immune system, which may make you more susceptible to sickness and disease. It may be a good idea to see if there are areas of your life that are filled with stress and tension. If there are, then you will need to add more relaxation to counteract these negative emotions. Your goal for optimum health and healing is to encourage your Immune System to operate in its full potential.

Another treatment for Athlete’s foot is to soak your feet in Geranium oil. You can add 20 drops of Geranium oil to hot water and soak your feet for at least 20 minutes for therapeutic benefits. If you find that the condition grows worse or continues to spread you may need to seek medical treatment form a doctor.
