Limes Versus Lemons, which is the better fruit?
Limes or Lemons
Limes are most often green
And lemons always yellow.
Which is best?
To start,
Both fruits are tart
And make one’s lips pucker
Eaten raw.
In dinner meals, both fruits are used
Agreeably well,
And often interchangeably.
For a summer afternoon
A refreshing sip
Of lemonade is very nice.
But at night, when drinks are tougher,
A daiquiri with lime
Will more than suffice.
A lemon pie with browned clouds
Of meringue
Or chilled key lime pie
With whipped rosettes of cream –
It’s a toss up,
I’ll have a slice of both.
It all comes down to that mainstay
Tea –
Assam, Oolong, Earl Grey,
Darjeeling, Ceylon, English Breakfast,
Irish Breakfast, Keemun
I have never seen
A slice of green
Served with a cup or glass…
So I would judge
That lemons win
By a squeeze.
