Chapped Lips, Dry Skin – How The Environment Zaps Moisture From Your Face
When the environment you are in dries out your skin and chaps your lips – what should you do? We all want to look beautiful, so here are some simple things you can do to improve this situation and keep your skin and lips moist and comfortable:
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated, which can help combat dryness.
Use a Humidifier: If the air in your environment is dry, using a humidifier can add moisture to the air and prevent your skin from drying out.
Moisturize Regularly: Use a gentle, hydrating moisturizer on your face daily, especially after washing your face or taking a shower.
Lip Balm: Apply a moisturizing lip balm regularly to keep your lips hydrated and prevent them from becoming chapped. Look for products with ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, or beeswax.
Protect Your Skin: Wear sunscreen or a moisturizer with SPF to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays, which can further dry out your skin.
Avoid Harsh Products: Avoid using harsh soaps or skincare products that can strip your skin of its natural oils and contribute to dryness.
Exfoliate Gently: Use a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and allow moisturizers to penetrate more effectively.
Limit Hot Showers: Hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils, so try to limit your shower time and use lukewarm water instead of hot water.
Protective Clothing: In harsh weather conditions, such as cold or windy days, protect your face and lips by wearing scarves or using a balaclava to cover exposed skin. In hot sunny day, wear a protective hat that shades the face.
Consult a Dermatologist: If your are experience unusual dry skin or chapped lips persist over time and don’t respond to these measures, it’s a good idea to consult a dermatologist for personalized advice and treatment options.
News About Chapped Lips
Lips Salved – Love Saved
The day in the desert was ending,
the sun’s heat had entered our bones
and I was so hot,
a burning fervor grew inside me,
I sought to kiss her
with an urgent passion, to which,
she eagerly responded,
then we both cried out –
our lips were badly chapped.
We drank from our water bottles
which warmly moistened
the dried out skin, though,
not enough to hide the pain.
But with love’s intense insistence I recalled
the tiny jar of lip balm in my pack –
with tender, trembling fingers,
I applied the amber salve to her lips,
as she did mine,
and in the growing reds and purples
of twilight’s fall, we took
what the desert have given us this day
and on a blanket on the sand
gave the desert’s gift
to each other.
