It is cold season again, and you may find that you are being hit with the terrible symptoms that colds can bring on. If you are stuck with a runny nose, fever, headache, weakness of body, or other symptoms that are caused by the common cold, you can help yourself to get over the cold and move back to a normal routine. Following are a list of remedies that you can use for your cold.

Colds are caused by the spread of a virus from person to person. Even though the colds occur more often in the colder months, they are not related to the weather or changes in season.

The most popular way to get over a cold symptoms is to use medication. There are several over the counter medicines that are used to dry out your system. However, there are falternate ways to help in your healing. Knowing about the different ways to fight off your cold can help you with feeling better faster.

A supplement that you can take is Echinacea. This can be found as a capsule, in teas or in liquid form. Echinacea is great to take, especially right before you feel a cold coming on. It will give your immune system an extra boost to help prevent the cold. Zinc can also help with this. It does this by building the immune system up, which will give it extra help in fighting off the cold virus. If you don’t want to take Zinc as an extra vitamin, you can find it in many green teas.

If your cold is in full swing, it is important to give your body a chance to naturally fight off the symptoms. The first way to do this is to rest. The more you sleep, the more your body can work on it’s own to get rid of the symptoms that are taking over your system. You should also make sure there are a lot of fluids moving through your system. Be sure to drink extra water as well as orange juice. Another great fluid for your cold is honey-lemon tea, as this has some extra nutrients to help in the fight.

For meals, eat a little less. Things like garlic, ginger and extra spice in your foods should help in clearing out your system. Soup is also a popular meal to help relieve your symptoms. Cinnamon is also a great supplement to add to your foods. Oranges and vitamin C substances are also helpful.

Staying healthy and in tune with your body during the cold season will prevent you from coming down with colds that shut down your entire system. By knowing what to do if you have a cold, you can allowing your body to fight it off easier and return to a healthy and normal schedule.
