Traditional Chinese Medicine For Holistic Healing

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a phrase coined by modern society for all methods coming from the Chinese culture to heal. Chinese healing methods have been developed over thousands of years and so can be a little difficult to put in a nutshell.

The Chinese may well be the first to realize that true healing comes from inside us. That the body can heal itself, if given the correct tools. Even better, disease and illness can be avoided altogether, if we are balanced in mind, body and soul.

TCM is taught in medical schools in China and the methods are also explored by western society doctors. TCM is based on Taoism and the principals there and includes such thing as:

Herbalism
Acupuncture
Acupressure
Moxibustion – medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort.
Chinese Food Therapy
Tui Na–Massage Therapy
Qigong–breathing and meditation.
Tai Chi Chuan–Physical exercise martial art form, linked with the modern Tai chi practiced by millions worldwide.
Feng Shui–mind, body and environmental energy flows.

TCM practitioners try to find the source of the problem and correct it, rather than just treat the symptoms. In some societies, TCM is taught in conjunction with western medical techniques. For example, in Australia TCM graduates also have the ability to diagnose and perform minor surgery according to western medicine standards.

In other places there is no requirement to bring western medical techniques alongside the TCM methods. It is a recognized medical field, so be sure your practitioner is fully qualified and has a good track record.
