Your Questions About Pearls Probiotics

Chris asks…

How do you find GOOD probiotics? Or a good doctor who would know?

Can anyone tell me how you you know you have found a good probiotic product? There are so many out there now. Pearls, capsules, ones needing refrigeration, or no refrigeration.

I would love to ask a doctor about this, but my general doctors don’t know much because it is so new. What kind of doctor would know how to get a good source of probiotics?

As for brands I have tried, I tried and liked Culturelle, but it was $20. I am now using CVS’s brand of Pearl probiotics. They seem ok and are only $10. I would spend whatever I needed, if I could find one I felt assured to be helpful.

Thanks!

Diamond Lover answers:

Yogurt with active cultures is one way to get probiotics into your digestive system. Check with your local Whole Foods store or other natural foods store for their recommendations.

Today, there are probiotic products that have 30 or more strains of good bacteria…

It is time our doctors learned about this! It seems to me, that more probiotics should be suggested by doctors along with antibiotics…

Pearls IC Intensive Care Probiotics?

Anyone know how long it normally, on average, takes for Pearls IC Intensive Care Probiotics to take effect and reduce/stop the feelings of bloating, sickness, and etc. after eating? Any help is appreciated.

Diamond Lover answers:

At least, a few days for your internal flora to get into balance. You can get cheaper ones (make sure the label says it has 3 strains) from the drugstore also and get a lot of yogurt packs from the grocery store. Check with your doctor, of course, if you don’t start feeling better soon.

Mandy asks…

hi, anyone know anything about probiotics? Which brand do you like?

i have tried natren healthy trinity probiotics and also another brand that are these little black pearls by a japanese Dr. which brand do you like best? thanks!

Diamond Lover answers:

Probiotics are great for balancing intestinal flora, helping break down lactose in cow’s milk, and by balancing the intestine they keep your immune system optimal! I am currently using Solgar brand.

Most probiotics tend to be basically similar. Differences are when they are based upon dairy or soy, in capsules (gelatin or vegetarian), powder, or liquid. If they absolutely need to be refrigerated (best for any brand, but if not possible, okay for some to not have to be). And, of course, how many millions of microorganisms per capsule- as well as the number of different strains. The more per capsule, the product tends to be more expensive, but the less capsules you take daily.

Some people say to take them first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, and wait at least 30 minutes to eat. I take them at night before going to bed, only because I won’t forget at this time. I’ve been taking them for almost 20 years since my mom learned they help with lactose intolerance better than those lactaid pills. When I don’t take them for a few weeks in a row, my body definitely feels it!!

Richard asks…

what causes flatulence and the need to defecate while running?

First, I apologize for the descriptive post. For about the last two months everytime I run I start getting severe gas intestinal pain and the severe need to defecate. At the first mile or so the gas gets painful and really foul smelling. Then it turns into a urgent need to go number 2. It has been causing me to cut my runs short. I have been taking a fiber supplement and probiotics(yogurt and “Pearls” product) and it hasn’t been helping. Anyone have any ideas? I appreciate the help.

Diamond Lover answers:

You may have an intestinal blockage and when you run it causes your feces to settle and move lower in your bowels, thus causing the gas and need to use the restroom. I would seek a doctor’s opinion considering this has been going on for 2 months.

Sharon asks…

Which is better (effective) Garden of Life’s Primal Defense Ultra or acidophilus pearls by Enzymatic Therapy?

I KNOW I’VE ALREADY HEARD THAT THE BEST PROBIOTICS ARE THE REFRIGERATED KIND, BUT THERE ARE NONE LIKE THIS AVAILABLE WHERE I LIVE. The closest thing to refrigerated probiotics is yogurt, but then I’ve heard that yogurt isn’t all that good for you becuz of the sugar content that’s in most of the yogurt available in the grocery stores. So my only other options for probiotics are the kind that are available on the shelves of the vitamin / medicine aisles. I found the acidophilus pearls at Walmart and the Garden of Life’s Primal Defense Ultra online. So anyone know which of these two is more effective? I wanna take them to improve my digestive issues (chronic constipation).

Diamond Lover answers:

First, it is frustrating that so many brands of yogurt are loaded with sugar – don’t buy them until they provide what you want in a yogurt…

I don’t shop at Walmart, so have no opinions about what they offer. But if you try them and they work…, that is you have fewer stomach problems and less heartburn, etc. than go for them.

Of course, there are many probiotics available online beyond the brand you mentioned. Again look for those with 3 or more strains of good bacterai…
