Naturopathy-Natural Healing

Naturopathic medicine works on the principal of helping the body use it’s own healing capacity. This title encompasses many areas in natural healing methods:

Manual Therapy
Hydrotherapy
Herbalism
Acupuncture
Counseling
Environmental Science
Aromatherapy
Nutritional counseling

Just to name a few.

Naturopaths believe the body has the capacity to heal or prevent onset of all disease. The practice is very holistic and emphasis is put on mental and spiritual well being in conjunction with physical wellness.

It is preferred not to use invasive surgery and the majority of synthetic medicines. The natural remedies are substituted for this. Practitioners are trained and accredited in diagnostic testing. This must be completed before a treatment course is prescribed. In the event that the Naturopathy does not succeed, the patients will normally be referred to a standard Medical Practitioner.

Regulation differs from country to country. Some country have little or no regulation and some require a Bachelor of Applied Science (Naturopathic Studies) or some type of similar degree. There is much debate over the effectiveness of certain practices but for those who do not wish to take synthetic drugs Naturopathy offers a good alternative. Quite often this natural healing is turned to when conventional medicine fails. Perhaps trying the natural way first might be the answer for many.

Certainly using it in conjunction with scientific medicine may give added value. The options Naturopathy offers grows in popularity every year and people seem more open-minded than ever. Many swear by Naturopathy, and modern science is being challenged daily in this area.
