Rosacea is a problem for approximately 14 million American men and women between the ages of 30 and 60 years of age. While rosacea can certainly affect those who are younger and older, middle-aged men and women are more prone to developing rosacea than anyone else. It is known that certain beverages can make your red skin even worse. Caffeine and alcohol are usually on the “no” list for patients with this condition, as are beverages that are hot, such as coffee, tea and hot chocolate. It is thought that hot foods and beverages could cause your blood vessels in your face to dilate and will make your face red and swollen. You may also want to avoid very hot baths, hot tubs, saunas and very hot showers. Exposure to the sun can also make your rosacea worse and you should always wear sunscreen, hats and make sure you wear a good moisturizer.
