Have a Healthy Summer Tips

Healthy Summer

During the summer season, many children will be at home all day long, hoping to be entertained. With summer, also come a lot of health concerns, which one must be aware of prior when planning any vacation activity. The sun and the heat can cause a lot of serious health issues and accidents. So start off your summer knowing how to keep yourself and your family healthy during this time of the year!

For instance, a morning walk is a great healthy activity during summers. But you know, it hardly takes any time at all for a scorching sun to take its toll on your health even in the morning… Try waking up before the sun rises to its fullest and get a fresh air morning walk.

Healthy SummerTips

  • If you happen to go outdoors during the afternoon, take a bottle of cold water with you.
  • Before going outside, make sure you have good quality sunglasses or a cap to wear to protect you from the direct sun rays.
  • Consume lemon juice a couple of times in a day, and add to it some honey to get needed carbohydrates for getting natural energy.
  • Avoid too much (or all) kinds of junk food during summers.• Avoid fasting too much during the summer season, and even if you do fast, consume orange juice with a banana, coconut water, cucumber, etc. during the day.
  • Consume at least 10-12 glasses of water every day since our sweating leads to a lot of water getting discharged. Apart from water, coconut water or lemon juice would also suffice, or even a healthy glucose drink is another way to keep hydrated.
  • If consuming meat, seafood or any other poultry food, cook it thoroughly, and use a meat thermometer to ensure that grilled meat is fully cooked.
  • Be sure that you wash your hands, utensils and the cutting boards prior to touching any other food, for the prevention of cross contamination of food.
  • Food leftovers should immediately be refrigerated.
  • Produce should be thoroughly washed for the removal of dirt, and go ahead and throw away the outermost layer of cabbage, lettuce and vegetables.
  • Perishable eatable items like meat, chicken, pasta salads, etc. should be kept in insulated containers with ice, otherwise they can get spoiled and become unfit for consumption.
  • As much as possible, avoid huge periods of vigorous activities during the worst of the summer heat. Take frequent breaks and consume a huge quantity of water to stay hydrated. Summers may be a time for a lot of outdoor activity, but keep hydrated.
  • Your family can be kept safe by having them take frequent breaks from their normal activities, and consuming a lot of fluids throughout the day.

Besides being hot, summer can be very humid as well. This can easily dehydrate an individual. Again I wan to emphasize that you need to consume a lot of fluids, especially water, coconut water, glucose water or lemon juice to prevent heat stroke, dehydration, exhaustion and other problems.
